ABOUT

Olena Newkryta (*1990, UA) is a Ukrainian-Austrian visual artist based in Vienna, whose interdisciplinary work includes photography, moving image and installations. Her artistic practice and research examines the production of cultural identity, social fabrics and space.
She studied at the University of Applied Arts Vienna as well as at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and is a member of the Golden Pixel Cooperative – association for moving images and media art.
Olena has received several prizes and grants such as START scholarship of the Federal Ministry for Culture, Award of the Kunsthalle Wien, Prize of the Lentos Museum-Friends. Her work has been presented at international exhibitions and screenings, including Youth Biennial Belgrade (SRB), WRO Media Art Biennale (PL), VISIO – Lo schermo dell´arte (IT), Kunstforum Vienna (AT), Kunsthalle Exnergasse Vienna (AT), Kunsthalle Vienna (AT), Salzburger Kunstverein (AT), Lentos Kunstmuseum (AT), Crossing Europe Filmfestival (AT), Belvedere21 Vienna, A Tale of A Tub Rotterdam (NL).
